Twitter in Costa Rica

Some of you may not be aware of the increasing popularity of Twitter amongst Costa Ricans however I can tell you that without a doubt, it's many Costa Rican's #1 source for up to date news on what's happening in the world.

 

Even Laura Chinchilla, President of Costa Rica, is using Twitter.

 

With our recent renovation of SellingCR - Costa Rica News, we've incorporated many

 

aspects of Twitter within the site in order to deliver up to the minute (tweet)news relevant to Costa Rica. It's live and it's current. For example after an earthquake is felt in Costa Rica, within a few short seconds, it's already gone round through Twitter. Trust me I've tried to be first to report a quake and it's impossible. One time I was standing in a door frame while the quake was occurring and typing on Twitterific. I was still behind half a dozen people on reporting it.

 

Most blog, web sites, business etc. in Costa Rica are just delving in to this relatively new social medium. However there are a few that are using it to it's full potential like direct marketing and generating instant traffic to your domains.

 

Google is now recognizing and indexing 'tweets' (Twitter posts) as we enter a new era in social search.
