Over the past two days, Costa Rica has been shaken by a few moderately sized earthquakes.

Yesterday at 9:48 am, a magnitude 4.8 quake was felt throughout the country and was centered near Parrita area. That was a strong one where we are.  While it was shaking I didn't necessarily feel much through my feet (on main floor at the time) however my windows were really rattling for approximately 10-15 seconds.  That and the dogs freakin out.

Then after a great day of hanging out in Dominical, I had come home and ate something and while I was just getting ready for bed, I felt another one.

This quake was stronger yet and centered off the coast of Golfito. This fault is exceptionally active. The time of the earthquake was 3:13 according to my iPhone and was followed by another two quakes some 5 hours later.  One measured 4.7 at 8:36 am and the other was surprisingly the larger of them all at 8:43 am and measured 5.1.

It would appear that the earth is moving these days...doing a little bit of the Harlem Shuffle. Let's just hope there's nothing big in the pipe for the faults running through Costa Rica like what happened in Haiti recently.
