Costa Rica To Create National Park on Calero Island
The new Calero Island National Park will not only have the mission to protect wetlands but the government expects the population to recover because of the increase in security and development.
Country’s authorities also claim that the numerous and costly deputy Calero Island will no longer be needed with the creation of this national park.
The environment minister, René Castro has insisted on the possibility of giving a new face to the nearly 15 000 hectares comprising Calero Island.
Thousands of researchers and tourists arrive each year to experience living with the natural wetlands.
The presence of park rangers and the creation of trails in this area will give more development to the area and also will allow authorities to more effectively control the transboundary movement.
The Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (MINAE) and almost have the design ready and it will be presented within a period not exceeding 10 days.
Since the beginning of this week, brigades of environmentalists have been given the task to mitigate the environmental damage caused by the military invasion of Nicaragua.
And it was announced that in the coming days almost a thousand people will begin work under the tutelage of MINAE, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Security.
