Johnny Araya Is Running For President in 2014
Johnny Araya decided he’ll run for presidency after the outcome of a survey showed him as the favorite to head the political party of the National Liberation Party (PLN) in the 2014 elections.
Araya, now mayor of San Jose, has the lead of the supporters of PLN (29%) over Jose Maria Figueres (16%), Antonio Alvarez Desanti (14%) and Rodrigo Arias (9%).
This is reflected in survey results released yesterday by Unimer.
“This data, he says, confirms some trends that have been taking place regarding the assessment of Costa Ricans who have certain political visions. However these studies come very “early” Araya says.
“The result of the survey expressed an uneasiness of Costa Ricans by premature aspirations, because those who have raised their nominations in advance have not been successful,” he said.
Meanwhile, Otton Solís Fallas, the PAC, insisted he did not aspire for the fourth time to get to Zapote, despite majority support in the survey reflected by Unimer.
The founder of the Citizen Action Party (PAC) also welcomed the rejection of the former Costa Rican president José María Figueres.
According to what was published today, 88% of respondents did not agree with candidate Figueres running for president.
His fellow party members Epsy Campbell, Roman Macaya and Luis Guillermo Solis, agree that the survey confirms Solis and Campbell as the most recognized figures in the political grouping.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Arias, who received only 9% among the preferences of PLN, said this is a product of the issues facing the management of funds by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, of which he was acquitted.
