Japdeva Union Seeks Higher Membership Numbers
Port workers agreed yesterday to increase the membership and coverage of the Japdeva Workers Union (Sintrajap).
With this measure, the stevedores and customs employees have the backing to join the guild.
Additionally, the name of the group, which already has 39 years of existence, would become Japdeva Workers Union, Allied and Port.
Since 2006, this group established a struggle against the governments and port modernization plans. Given this, Sintrajap has always defended his position to strengthen and modernize the existing port infrastructure with the purchase of equipment.
“This change will provide protection for private workers. Today, they do not have this protection, so I qualify this as a historic day for us “said Jorge Luis Pizarro, Japdeva worker.
