Man In Delicate Care With AH1N1
A 30-year-old remains hospitalized in delicate condition at the Hospital San Juan de Dios, because of the AH1N1 flu virus.
The patient, who was not identified, was admitted last week to that medical center and is in the Respiratory Critical Care Unit, confirmed Mary Ethel Trejos, director of Surveillance of the Ministry of Health.
The victim does not have any risk factors that may aggravate the situation, but is under strict surveillance, Trejos said.
According to the latest report of the National Influenza Center, there have been eight cases of the virus, of which seven are from San Jose and one in Cartago.
One of them, a man of 52 years, died last week. The patient had a risk factor of obesity and was a resident of the Canton of Aserrí.
Trejos said that the current number of cases cannot be regarded as alarming. However, she added that people should not lower our guard.
