Costa Rica Official Arrested for Corruption – SHOCKER!
An Immigration officer was arrested yesterday on suspicion of facilitating the illegal entry of foreigners into the country.
Apparently, the official surnamed Monge, introduced false data in a system where the entity keeps track of country inputs and outputs and this way he legalized the stay of foreigners on national soil.
The capture took place during the morning at the Juan Santamaria Airport where Monge worked for over three years.
The arrest was conducted by the Special Migration Police, who investigated the suspect since December last year.
Kathya Rodriguez Araica, Director of Immigration, said the agency will follow up such complaints to lay responsibilities.
The detainee, who was transferred to the Public Ministry, is charged with computer fraud.
