Commercial and urban growth of this county was brake by the decision of the AyA of not to give water connections for new buildings.

Hotels, residential areas, shopping centers and any business, cannot have a connection to receive the liquid. The possibility exists only for those who build a house.

The problem, which began four years ago, is not due to a shortage of water, but rather the limited and old infrastructure that has the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA).

This was determined by a study conducted in 2005 by the company Concesa, whereby the water flow deficit for that year in the district of San Isidro de El General and neighboring towns was of 32 liters per second at peak demand times.

The growth of this area provoked that, by 2008, the deficit of water were of 80 liters per second.

Therefore, the Board of the institution decided to suspend in April 2008 the provision of water for shops, apartments and any other service that is not a house.

Everyone expects that the AyA fulfill its promise to have new infrastructure by 2015.
