Speeding Could Cost You Your License
While reiterating their discomfort with the reduction to ¢ 5,000 of the fine for speeding on the roads, authorities warn drivers that the reduction of points for the speeding ticket is still valid and can lose their driving license.
Each fault for disrespect to the signaling means 10 points less in the license, in which each conductor starts with 50 points. That’s five tickets for speeding and you lose the ability to drive legally.
The Road Safety Council (COSEVI) recalled that in losing points on the license the person cannot get a new one until two years later. If you lose points again, there will be four years.
Last Wednesday the Constitutional Court annulled the penalty of ¢ 275,000 set out in Article 131 of the current traffic law, considering “disproportionate.”
With this, the fine is back to the penalty imposed by the laws of 1993: ¢ 5,000.
