$10 Million More from Medical Sector
Another medical services company, BeamOne, announced this morning that they will invest $10 million in the country in building a new plant of 2,600 square meters (m2) and the expansion of its existing operations in Coyol of Alajuela.
According to a statement released by the Coalition for Development Initiatives (Cinde) – responsible for attracting investment, the new plant will house services of sterilization using ethylene oxide and will employ 20 people who will be responsible for managing automated equipment.
Construction will begin in the coming weeks.
This new operation will perform sterilization utilizing electron beams. The operation which originally opened in 2009, will begin the expansion of the second phase next week. For this phase, the company hired 25 people who will join the 43 already currently working there.
Randall Vega, Costa Rica BeamOne manager, said the investment is the result of the “consolidation of the medical device industry (at home), which has increased the volume of manufactured goods and therefore demand for sterilization technologies.”
For its part, Gabriela Llobet, Cinde director, said that having more sterilization services increases competitiveness in the field of life sciences (formerly known as medical devices).
